World Nutrition is the journal of the World Public Health Nutrition Association (WPHNA). World Nutrition is an international, peer-reviewed journal published quarterly. It aims to improve understanding of the causes and solutions to public health nutrition problems at community level. It provides content of value to nutritionists, dieticians, health workers, agricultural specialists, social scientists, students, food writers, social movement professionals, journalists, and others interested in public health nutrition or community nutrition. It is global in scope, presenting content of general interest as well as content specific to low-income or high-income settings. Its content includes editorials, original research, literature reviews, commentaries, book reviews, and letters to the editor. WN prides itself on our focus on health and nutrition equity, justice, and action. The journal is indexed in the Directory of Open Access Journals.
Journal authors and editors discuss and debate how best to shape policies and programs that impact nutrition in ways that protect the human species, the living and physical world, and the biosphere, now and in the future. Nutrition is understood as a social, political, and biological science, and as a human right. As described in the Lancet (http://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(17)32903-3/fulltext), we recognize there is a strong bias against women, especially women of color, in science, in health care, and in leadership positions, and we welcome manuscripts from women and research, review, and commentary dealing with women in the context of public health nutrition.
We do not charge article processing fees, nor do we charge for publishing papers submitted to the journal. Starting in June 2022, research papers will be professionally typeset. Other types of manuscripts will be typeset either if the author pays the cost ($64 plus $1.30 per 10 references) or if they have already paid an equivalent amount for WPHNA membership. All costs for the journal are fully born by the WPHNA from membership fees. The Editor-in-Chief as well as all other editors, reviewers, and others who assist with the journal (with the exception of short-term web designers and programmers) are unpaid volunteers.
All research articles, literature reviews, and commentaries that make evidence-based claims go through at least two double-blinded peer reviews before an editorial decision on acceptance is taken.
World Nutrition is an open access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the BOAI definition of open access.
Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY) 4.0 License that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgment of the work’s authorship and initial publication in this journal. Provided they are the owners of the copyright to their work, authors are able to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal’s published version of the work (e.g., post it to an institutional repository, in a journal or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgment of its initial publication in this journal. Authors are permitted and encouraged to post their work online (e.g., in institutional repositories, disciplinary repositories, or on their website) prior to, during the submission process, as well as afterwards if it is accepted for publication in World Nutrition.
Many authors wish to deposit a copy of their paper in an institutional or other repository of their choice. Our policy is that authors may deposit:

in an institutional or other repository of their choice without embargo.
