A post-doctoral fellowship position is now open within the scientific framework of the SurFood program (Sustainable Urban Food Systems). SurFood is a research program in process with the goal of federating the scientific community of Montpellier (15 research units from 4 disciplinary groups: economics and social sciences; nutrition and health; food technology, process and recycling engineering; agronomy) around a common issue: contributing to more sustainable urban food systems. The UNESCO Chair on World Food Systems manages and coordinates the project.
The post-doctoral researcher will work on the construction of a model of representation of urban food systems and help to assemble the model from the contributions from each participant (researchers, PhD etc.). This model will allow assessing the sustainability, to simulate some innovations on the sustainability of the system and to give back a picture of the interactions among the actors who are responsible for the evolution of the system. It is a work of identifying, putting in a coherent manner tools of diagnostic/methods/existing indicators or the ongoing elaborations in SurFood and modeling. Several forms of models are possible and the choice of the model and its purpose will depend on the discipline and profile of the candidate chosen.
- The applicants should belong to one of the following disciplines: economics and social sciences; nutrition and health; food technology, process and recycling engineering; agronomy; and have research interests in urban food systems and a good academic record. Applicants with research experience in complex systems may have an advantage.
- The applicants must have obtained their PhD less than 3 years before the submission date of the candidature.
- The applicants must not have resided or carried their principal activity (work, study, etc.) in France during a period of more than 12 months in the last 3 years preceding the submission date the candidature.
The candidates must send their application by 19 August, including CV and application
